Position Summary

Responsible for providing efficient, quality-oriented patient care within the scope of the department's policy/procedure manual. Performs support activities such as equipment maintenance, changes, inventory, and sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness.

Monitors inventory of supplies and equipment at bedside and storage areas to ensure resources are available. Completes equipment calibration and quality control procedures asestablished,participatesinequipmentmaintenance,dis-infection,andsterilizationofall respiratory equipment.

Participates in equipment maintenance, dis-infection, and sterilization of all respiratory equipment.Completesequipmentcalibrationandqualitycontrolproceduresasdirected. Properlyselectssiteanddemonstratesappropriate puncturetechniqueforblood gases. Knowledgeable of quality control lab testing, quality control parameters and documentation. Properly performs specimen testing for each i-STAT cartridge. Properly operatesandmaintainsthe i-STAT analyzer.Followsproperprotocolforreportingpanic values of i-STAT lab results.
