Position Summary

Responsible for providing efficient, quality-oriented patient care within the scope of the department's policy/procedure manual. Performs support activities such as equipment maintenance, changes, inventory, and sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness.

Current,valid,andactivelicensetopracticeasa RegisteredRespiratoryTherapistorCertifiedRespiratory Therapist in the state of employment required.

CurrentBLScertificationfromaCORALVITA-approvedvendorrequired.

ACLScertificationfromaCORALVITA-approvedvendorrequiredwithinsix(6)monthsofhire.

ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

One(1)yearcriticalcareand/orartificialairwayandventilatorcareexperiencepreferred. Ability to project a professional image.

Consistently completes timely, concise and accurate documentation of assessments, progressnotes,dischargesummaries,anddailyinterventionnotesforeachtreatmentor service provided. Shares all information with team, attending team meetings, rounds, or patient conferences as directed.

Monitors inventory of supplies and equipment at bedside and storage areas to ensure resources are available. Completes equipment calibration and quality control procedures asestablished,participatesinequipmentmaintenance,dis-infection,andsterilizationofall respiratory equipment.

Providepatient,familyandstaffeducationas appropriate.

Participates in equipment maintenance, dis-infection, and sterilization of all respiratory equipment.Completesequipmentcalibrationandqualitycontrolproceduresasdirected. Properlyselectssiteanddemonstratesappropriate puncturetechniqueforblood gases. Knowledgeable of quality control lab testing, quality control parameters and documentation. Properly performs specimen testing for each i-STAT cartridge. Properly operatesandmaintainsthe i-STAT analyzer.Followsproperprotocolforreportingpanic values of i-STAT lab results. Ensures the i-STAT reports have complete clinical, and patient information.
