Together, we create an environment where you can grow, contribute, and help improve the experience and outcomes for every patient we serve.

About The Role

As a Respiratory Therapist specializing in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) at Quincy Medical Group, you will perform comprehensive diagnostic testing to evaluate lung function and provide physicians with accurate clinical data used to identify pulmonary disease, assess functional status, and evaluate response to treatment.

This role combines technical expertise with direct patient care. You will guide patients through a variety of pulmonary function tests, operate and maintain specialized diagnostic equipment, evaluate testing quality, and communicate results to physicians. This is a great fit for a Respiratory Therapist who enjoys diagnostic testing, working independently, and helping patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their testing experience.

Schedule & Work Environment
  • Primarily Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
  • May include travel to QMG's Pittsfield location approximately one day per week based on department needs.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform pulmonary function testing, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, respiratory muscle testing, and other diagnostic testing as ordered.
  • Explain and demonstrate testing procedures to patients, provide clear instructions, and coach patients throughout testing to obtain accurate and reliable results.
  • Prepare, calibrate, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot specialized pulmonary diagnostic equipment.
  • Observe patients throughout testing, monitor their response, and recognize concerns requiring clinical intervention.
  • Review testing data for quality and accuracy, repeat testing when appropriate, and calculate and document results according to established protocols.
  • Provide physicians with accurate testing information to support diagnosis, assessment of disease severity, treatment planning, and evaluation of response to therapy.
  • Assist physicians and other clinical team members with more complex pulmonary testing and procedures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and testing documentation within applicable clinical systems.
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain pulmonary testing equipment according to established infection prevention and equipment standards.
  • Monitor and order supplies necessary for pulmonary testing and department operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of new pulmonary function testing techniques, equipment, and professionally accepted standards.
  • Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and assist with emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related respiratory care program required, or equivalent combination of education and experience as outlined for the position.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required.
  • Current Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Previous pulmonary function testing or respiratory diagnostic experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of pulmonary physiology, respiratory disease, and pulmonary function testing principles preferred.
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail with the ability to recognize testing quality concerns and obtain reliable diagnostic results.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills with the ability to clearly explain testing procedures and coach patients through testing maneuvers.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and recognize when patient concerns require physician or clinical intervention.
  • Ability to travel to QMG's Pittsfield location as needed.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits that include healthcare navigation assistance.
  • Access to a mental health benefit at no cost.
  • Employer provided life and disability insurance.
  • $5,250 Tuition Reimbursement per year.
  • Immediate 401(k) match.
  • 40 hours paid volunteer time off.
  • A culture committed to community engagement and social impact.
  • Up to 12 weeks parental leave at 100% pay and a financial benefit for adoption and surrogacy for non-physician team members once eligibility requirements are met.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $23.81 - $35.72 per hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
