Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction.

You will administer therapeutic respiratory care, document charting and billing, perform diagnostic procedures, and educate patients and staff. PA licensure and CRT certification are required; preferred RRT and hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program.
• PA licensure as Respiratory Therapist or Temporary Practice Permit.
• CRT certification required prior to the expiration of the Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).

Responsibilities

GENERAL OVERVIEW: Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory disorders under licensed medical direction.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies. (55%)
• Completes documentation that is required to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness e.g., charting, billing, IPOC, patient/family education. (20%)
• Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies. (20%)
• Provides instruction to patients and other members of the healthcare team as needed. (5%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum: Graduate of an approved respiratory therapy program.
• Pennsylvania state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) National Board of Respiratory Care required prior to the expiration of the Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).

Preferred

• Registered with the National Board of Respiratory Care RRT
• Two years' experience in pulmonary/respiratory medicine in a hospital setting.

• CPR - American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
