Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the department's specific requirements, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. They perform diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, and monitor patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
• Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist with placement of artificial airways. Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patient responses and notify providers as needed, intervening in case of adverse responses.
• Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
• Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.

What Qualifications You Will Need

• Certificate or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician, or State Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT), Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), or BCLS Instructor (must be obtained within 30 days of employment)
