Job summary

Kernodle Clinic in Burlington, NC seeks a Respiratory Therapist for its Pulmonology department. Under physician/APP supervision, you will perform PFTs in an outpatient setting and support schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

You must hold a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner license and BLS certification; one year of PFT experience or equivalent training in outpatient care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RRT) and AHA BLS certification.
• One year of pulmonary function test (PFT) experience or equivalent training preferred in outpatient care.
• Outpatient clinical setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary-function tests including Spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity and-related measurements.
• Explain test procedures to patients and address questions prior to testing.
• Document results and maintain regulatory compliance in the lab.
• Manage PFT scheduling and equipment maintenance.
• Assist with supplies and testing workflow in the pulmonology department.

Full Time for Busy Multi-Specialist Clinic, located in Burlington, NC. Job Description: Kernodle Clinic is a respected and progressive multi-specialty group practice with Clinics in Burlington, Mebane and Elon. We are a community leader that offers challenging and rewarding opportunities for our employees. Kernodle Clinic is a multi-specialty practice with approximately 70 Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers located just off I-40/I-85. Burlington is accessible as a day trip to NC mountains and beaches. Ample recreational activities, shopping, and easy access to metros (Greensboro, Raleigh and Durham) are unique to Burlington.

We are currently seeking a patient-focused individual for our Pulmonology department. Under the direction and supervision of the physician/APP, the Respiratory Therapist performs various test procedures in an outpatient clinical setting. This position would be located at Kernodle Clinic - Burlington location. Schedule would be Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All candidates must have a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner license and AHA BLS certification. One year of pulmonary function test experience or equivalent related training in area preferred, in an outpatient clinical setting.

Duties Include, but not limited to the following:

• When providing direct patient care, including patient related telephone conversations, employees use double identifiers to ensure right patient every time.
• Plans, provides, and concisely documents professional medical care and patient communication in accordance with physician/APP orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the department manager.
• Patiently and clearly explains purpose and nature of testing procedures to patient prior to administration minimizing anxiety and fear.
• Performs pulmonary-function tests, Spirometry (pre and post Bronchodilator), lung volume measurements, diffusion capacity, fractional exhaled nitric oxide, Cardiopulmonary exercise testing, Six minute walk tests, Pulse oximetry and oxygen titration studies and blood-and-oxygen tests to gather data for use by physician in diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders
• Confers with patient in treatment room to explain test results as directed by physician/APP.
• Coach and monitor patients
• Explains specified methods of breathing to patient and conducts pulmonary function tests, such as helium dilution and pulmonary mechanics, arterial blood gas analyses, and lung-capacity tests, such as vital capacity and maximum breathing capacity tests, using spirometer of other equipment.
• Document and report results
• Maintain regulatory compliance in the lab

• Track equipment maintenance and compliance logs
• Manage accurate PFT schedule to maximize daily slot allocations
