Job summary

Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY seeks a Respiratory Therapist to perform basic and advanced respiratory care procedures. You will monitor patient charts, prepare medications, and coordinate care with physicians and nursing staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires graduate education in respiratory care and NYS licensure; BLS is required, with ACLS/NRP/PALS preferred. This position is a full-time role within the Respiratory Therapy Department.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school for Respiratory Care is required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/NRP/PALS preferred.
• NYS licensure: CRT or RRT; NYS licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic and advanced respiratory therapy procedures.
• Accurately monitors and evaluates patient information from charts.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians and nursing staff; transcribes/implements orders.
• Uses assessment data to support patient care decisions and safety.
• Troubleshoots clinical problems and escalates to supervision when needed.

Troubleshoots and takes steps to correct clinical problems; refers unusual circumstances to supervision.Job RequirementsMinimum Education Requirement:Graduate of a school for Respiratory Care.Minimum Experience Requirement:Prior experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of acid/base/electrolyte relationships and implications of life threatening situations preferred, not required. Establishes patient ventilator settings using metric measurements/advanced principles of volume, flow, pressure, time relationships preferred, not required.Minimum License Requirement:BLS certification required. ACLS, NRP and PALS preferred. Appropriate NYS licensure. CRT - Certified by National Board for Respiratory Care.
