Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Respiratory Technician (PRN) to apply equipment and perform therapeutic modalities for cardiopulmonary abnormalities under supervision by a respiratory therapist. You will work onsite, assisting across age groups and ensuring safety and patient care standards.

On-call responsibilities and adherence to competency requirements are essential. Ideal candidates will be enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care Program with Ohio Limited Permit and BLS certification, and

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Certification: Ohio Limited Permit and BLS certification are required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies equipment and procedures to cardiopulmonary patients under supervision.
• Follows skill and competency verifications from the program.
• Provides patient care across physical, psychological, social, educational needs.
• Performs duties as required by the department.

Summary

The Respiratory Technician applies equipment and performs therapeutic modalities to patients demonstrating abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system under the supervision/direction of a registered respiratory therapist.

Responsibilities

• Applies equipment and procedures to patients demonstrating abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.
• Performs procedures verified by their Verification of Work Form from their accredited respiratory care program and must pass skills and competency for those procedures approved.
• Works under the direction/supervision of a registered respiratory therapist.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

• Experience in respiratory care is required.
• Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Electronic health record software used for inpatient care is preferred.

Education and Experience

• Education: Must be enrolled and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Certification: Valid Ohio Limited Permit is required. Current Health Care Provider BLS certification is required.
• Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred.
• Years of experience supervising: None.
