Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta seeks a Respiratory Extern - Graduate to join a multidisciplinary team. You will assist with assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care services under the direction of a licensed respiratory care professional.

Responsibilities include airway management, suctioning, nebulizer therapies, oxygen setup, and remote monitoring duties, with a rotating weekend schedule and on-site hours from 7AM to 7:30PM.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited school of respiratory care.
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the ongoing process of respiratory care delivery to patients under supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional.
• Participate in the educational process related to the delivery of healthcare under supervision.
• Participate in the discharge planning process under supervision.
• Assist in maintaining the care environment for patient delivery under supervision.
• May assist with equipment and supply stocking, cleaning, and setup.
• Maintain professional development and participate in organizational goals.
• Perform other responsibilities as required under supervision.

Education

Responsibilities

The Respiratory Extern- Graduate at Northside Hospital participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team in assisting with assessing, implementing, planning, and evaluating patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional. Provides designated clinical and/or support services.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists with the management of the ongoing process of respiratory care delivery to patients, incorporating age-related and developmental-specific requirements under the supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional. This includes: airway clearance, suctioning, and nebulizer therapies as well as set up and adjustment of supplemental oxygen therapies, incentive spirometry, and remote monitoring duties.
• Participates in the educational process related to the delivery of healthcare under the supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional.
• Participates in the discharge planning process under the supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional.
• Assists in the management of the environment for the delivery of care under the supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional.
• May assist with equipment and supply stocking, cleaning, and set-up.
• Maintains professional development.
• Participates in the achievement of the organizational and departmental goals.
• Performs other responsibilities as required under the supervision of a licensed respiratory care professional.
