Job summary

The Respiratory Student Technician (RST) at MUSC works within the Respiratory Therapy Department to support equipment management and patient care under supervision. The role is PRN with weekend and holiday coverage and is based in a hospital setting in Charleston, SC.

As a first-year student, you maintain equipment and supplies, assist with procedures, and collaborate with Respiratory Therapists and staff to ensure smooth department workflow and adherence to infection prevention standards.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the COARC or recognized successor organization.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Responsibilities

• First-year student duties: maintain respiratory equipment and supplies.
• Retrieve soiled equipment, clean and disinfect non-disposable items.
• Prepare equipment for reuse and restock supplies.
• Deliver equipment to assigned areas and organize storage locations.
• Document equipment logs and identify repairs or maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with Respiratory Therapists, unit staff, educators and leaders to support workflow.
