Job summary

TriStar Centennial Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Educator to develop, implement, and oversee education programs for the department. You will partner with management to orient staff, plan curricula, and ensure cost-effective clinical education while maintaining hands-on patient care skills.

The role emphasizes policy review, clinical education, and coordination of learning opportunities across disciplines, with a focus on quality and safety in patient care.

Qualifications

• Current TN licensure RRT/RCP
• NBRC credential
• 3 years of relevant health care experience
• Preferred: Bachelors degree in Respiratory Therapy or Education
• Preferred: ACCS, NRP
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications within 30 days
• Extensive knowledge of respiratory therapy
• Knowledge of state, federal, and TJC regulations and standards relating to the principles and practices of respiratory therapy
• Knowledge of and ability to use various computer programs and applications
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Effective leadership abilities

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees formal/informal education processes and programs.
• Identifies and establishes clinical learning opportunities for students, staff, and professionals in health care disciplines.
• Oversees education and orientation processes for department staff.
• Determines types of educational activities for new procedures or equipment.
• Coordinates the evaluation of equipment for the department.
• Supports outreach through health promotion and education for community agencies.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates patient education programs across settings.
• Suggests curriculum revisions reflecting changes in respiratory care practice.
• Coordinates departmental N95 fitting.
• Performs duties of a staff RT during staffing shortages.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapy Educator collaborates with management and staff to plan, develop, and implement educational programming for employees within the Department. The incumbent acts as a key resources in the orientation and continuing education of Respiratory Therapy staff. The Educator is a clinical expert and is expected to maintain skills and competencies to provide direct patient care. In addition, the Educator assists with clinical policy review, delegation protocol development, and Joint Commission readiness. The Educator will apply innovative teaching strategies and methodologies to provide for cost-effective and well-executed clinical education program for the Department.

What you will do in this role:

• Suggests curriculum revisions that reflect changes in current respiratory care practice.
• Coordinates departmental N95 fitting.
• Performs the duties of a staff RT in times of critical staffing, if necessary.
