Job summary

St. Francis Medical Center in Los Angeles seeks a Respiratory Therapist to join the Cardiopulmonary Services team. You will perform diagnostic testing, respiratory care, and patient education for a wide age range, including newborns through adults, and support daily department operations on night shifts.

Requires active Respiratory Care Practitioner license and NBRC credential (RRT or eligible), BLS and ACLS/PALS/NRP as hire conditions; an Associate or B.S. degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• NBRC RRT certification or obtained within 3 months of hire.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications as hire requirements.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs respiratory care for patients of all ages.
• Provides diagnostic testing and therapy to optimize patient care.
• Takes part in arterial blood gas analysis and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

Leads and directs the technical personnel, activities, and equipment of the Adult Cardiopulmonary services. Promotes healing of acutely ill patients whose cardiac or pulmonary systems have been compromised through illness or injury through the provision of respiratory care, diagnostic testing, providing for the psycho-social needs of the patient, and patient education. Encourages and enhances the progression and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Services Department. Treats patients from newborn, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults. When requested, assists day-to-day operations of the Cardiopulmonary Department, referring out-of-the –ordinary issues to the Manager and/or Medical Director, as appropriate. Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given. Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; knowledge in the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control of ABG analyzers. Abilities to use mechanical ventilators, bi-level ventilation equipment, peak flow meters, ability to perform respiratory assessment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $71,760 to $107,016.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
