Job summary

Endeavor Health's Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL seeks a Respiratory Care Technician to provide patient-focused respiratory therapy across age groups in a per diem role. Shifts vary, with 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am and weekend coverage as needed.

Responsibilities include administering therapies, monitoring patients, and documenting care while maintaining equipment and department standards. CPR certification and active school status required.

Qualifications

• Must be currently attending an AMA approved school of respiratory therapy with successful completion of at least half of program.
• Current CPR certification issued by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and treats patients from pediatric to geriatric.
• Administers respiratory therapy including gases, medications, and aerosol therapy with appropriate equipment.
• Instructs patients and staff in respiratory therapy techniques and equipment use.
• Initiates and maintains patient respiratory care records.
• Maintains and cleans respiratory therapy equipment and department organization.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.

Hourly Pay Range:

$19.31 - $28.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Per Diem | Hours are Determined by Department Needs

• Hours: Shifts varies Monday - Sunday from 7am - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm, 11pm-7am and weekends between 7am - 7pm and 7pm - 7am

What you will do:

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and treat all age groups of patients from pediatric to geriatric.

• Administers all forms of respiratory therapy including medical gases, medication delivery via the airways, pressure breathing treatments, breathing retraining, aerosol and humidity therapy. Understands the equipment, indications, contraindications, hazards, and adverse reactions of each mode of therapy.

• Consults with physician and instructs patients, families, and hospital personnel in respiratory therapy techniques and equipment use under the guidance of the staff Respiratory Therapist.

• Initiates and maintains the appropriate records in the patient chart and on respiratory care records.

• Cleans, repairs, and maintains respiratory therapy equipment; maintains appearance of the department.

• Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures.

What you will need:

• Education: Must be currently attending, in good standing, an AMA approved school of respiratory therapy with successful completion of at least half of program, i.e. 1 year of 2 year program or 2 years of 4 year program, required.

• Certification: Current CPR certification issued by American Heart Association, required.
