Respiratory Care Practitioner | St. Rita's Medical Center

Join our team as a Respiratory Care Practitioner at St. Rita's Medical Center. Mercy Health is dedicated to helping patients achieve wellness in mind, body, and spirit, driven by our shared purpose and faith.

Position Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner provides respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. Performs procedures within scope of license, monitors patient response, and recommends modifications as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient assessments in collaboration with the care team, analyze data, develop care plans, implement treatments, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Perform treatments per physician orders, explain therapies to patients, and modify procedures based on patient response.
  • Maintain documentation, patient records, and adhere to policies, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on cardiopulmonary diseases and therapies.
  • Set up and maintain respiratory equipment and supplies.
  • Potentially serve as a preceptor for new staff or students.
  • Respond to emergencies, including cardio-pulmonary resuscitations.
Qualifications
  • Current Respiratory Care License in the state of employment (required)
  • NBRC credentialed (required)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (preferred)
  • BLS certification (required)
  • ACLS and PALS certifications (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license for Home Care/DME roles (required)
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)
  • Previous experience in ambulatory or acute care settings (preferred)
  • 6 months of respiratory therapy experience in a general care area (preferred)
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

High-stress periods, exposure to noise, bright lights, hazardous substances, and infectious materials. Physical demands include lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, crawling, climbing, standing, and sitting, with specific physical and sensory requirements outlined.
