150 Sharp Tri-City Medical Center in California seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner to perform cardiopulmonary diagnostics, therapies, and patient monitoring within defined policies. The RCP educates patients and families and supports patient rights within the care team.

The position requires graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program, CA RCP license, and AHA BLS; ACLS is required. Prior acute care or bronchoscopy experience is valued; NBRC credential is preferred.

Hours: Shift Start Time: 6 PM Shift End Time: 6:30 AM AWS Hours Requirement: 12/36 - 12 Hour Shift Additional Shift Information: Weekend Requirements: Every Other On-Call Required: No Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $39.190 - $48.020 - $56.840 This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU. This position was originally posted to ratified STC SEIU members from 10/24/2026 to 11/1/2026. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.

What You Will Do

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a professional caregiver who performs cardiopulmonary diagnostics, therapeutics and monitors within his/her scope of practice per TCMC physician approved policies, procedures and protocols. This position maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in hospital and department expectations and professional organizations. The employee provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals. The RCP demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution. Pulmonary Function Technologists may complete the same duties as RCPs and provide additional specialized testing of patients (PFTs). The RCP follows/adheres to guidelines of care.

Required Qualifications

• Other Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care.
• California Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) - Respiratory Care Board of CA -REQUIRED
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
• ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 Year experience in acute care respiratory therapy.
• Experience in Bronchoscopy resourcing.
• Pulmonary Rehabilitation experience.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) -PREFERRED

Essential Functions

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements. Provide respiratory care therapies or diagnostics to patients and maintains specific level of RCP I or RCP II competencies. Provide respiratory education to patients, family members or other healthcare providers (all levels). Ensure accurate documentation of therapies provided (all levels). Ensure accurate charging for therapies provided (all levels). Duties may include but are not limited to: General floor care, adult critical intensive care, emergency department, Rapid Response Team member, assisting with bronchoscopy, bedside pulmonary function testing or other diagnostic testing.
