Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner I at St. Rita's Medical Center. This full-time role delivers oxygen, aerosol therapies, ventilator care, and education to patients.

The practitioner monitors responses and adjusts therapies as needed, potentially acting as a preceptor for new team members. Responsibilities include setting up oxygen therapy, administering IPPB and aerosols, and ensuring proper documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires a Respiratory Care License in the state of practice.
• NBRC credentialed; RRT preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS preferred.
• Minimum 6 months Respiratory Therapy experience in ambulatory or acute care.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status by chart review and examination.
• Perform prescribed respiratory therapies and adjust as needed.
• Explain therapy goals to patient and modify treatments per response.
• Prepare and monitor oxygen, IPPB and aerosol therapies.
• Document vitals, response to therapy, and adverse reactions.
• Instruct patient/family on incentive spirometry and inhalers.
• Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care and humidification.
