Job description

Responsibilities

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will report to work on time and be prepared to work in a quiet, professional manner, following hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Provide quality care as ordered by the patient's physicians. Responsible for initiating respiratory protocols and evaluating protocol steps across all therapy modalities. Serve as a member of the patient care team to assess, develop care plans, evaluate the appropriateness of respiratory care modalities, and assist with discharge planning as needed. Educate patients and families regarding medications and therapy modalities appropriate to their learning skills. Monitor quality of care, organize workflow for smooth shift transitions, and assist in daily operations such as documentation, billing, supply and medication management, and other duties as assigned. Maintain current knowledge through hospital and department communication tools, identify problems, and recommend solutions. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and participate in or provide in-service training.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate Degree
  • One of: CRT or RRT - RRT must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • Respiratory Therapist (KY)
Desired:
  • One year of experience in respiratory care in a critical care setting
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (National) OR Registered Respiratory Therapist (National)
