Job summary

CommonSpirit Health’s California Hospital Medical Center seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner to deliver comprehensive respiratory care across NICU to geriatric patients in a high-acuity setting.

Responsibilities include arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, and strict infection control. Maintain equipment and provide patient education, while collaborating with the care team for optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Active California Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Neonatal care training (STABLE) with preceptorship experience.
• CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
• Fire safety training completed within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for neonate to geriatric patients.
• Perform arterial punctures and arterial blood gas sampling.
• Operate mechanical ventilators and manage respiratory equipment.
• Ensure infection control and isolation procedures are followed.
• Communicate with patients and care team to ensure timely care.
• Maintain equipment to policy and regulatory standards.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and therapies.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Respiratory Care Practitioner, you will competently provide essential respiratory care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Your expertise is vital for critical respiratory interventions and patient well-being.

Every day you will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, mechanical ventilator operation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration.

To be successful in this role, you must possess advanced clinical skills in all aspects of respiratory care across age groups, meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to patient safety and infection control, and the ability to perform effectively in emergencies.

• Ensures that patient care is appropriate and effective and delivered in a timely manner.
• Ensures that communications and interactions with patients and other care givers are appropriate and timely.
• Ensures that patient and family education is accurate, culturally sensitive, and performed in a timely manner.
• Ensures that diagnostic test results are accurate and reported in a timely manner.
• Maintains all related equipment in optimal working order per policy and regulatory requirements.

• Current California RCP License
• Required 20 hours of didactic training (including STABLE certificate) focused onneonatal care and able to show competencies in providing care in NICU setting under a preceptorship process (or equivalent) of at least 4 weeks

Preferred

• Bachelors or Associates Of Science in Respiratory Therapy
• 2 years acute care experience including, pediatrics, trauma, and ventilator management; blood gas and pulmonary function testing experience and experience with extended and managed care

$51.66 - $63.62 /hour
