Job summary

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) to oversee routine and complex respiratory care, assess patients, develop treatment plans, and monitor progress with a multidisciplinary team.

You will lead staff, coordinate shift operations, and ensure compliance with policies while maintaining high-quality patient outcomes. The role requires interpersonal skills, teamwork, leadership, and the RRT credential within one year.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent.
• Two years' experience.
• RRT credential must be obtained within one year.
• RRT-NPS credential must be obtained within one year.
• Good interpersonal skills, teamwork, leadership, communication and conflict resolution abilities.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a technical or clinical resource and performs similar duties with staff.
• Assigns, monitors and reviews progress of work. Monitors and reports compliance with policies and/or procedures.

As a Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner, RRT, you will play a crucial role in providing respiratory care services to our patients which will include assessing patients' respiratory conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, and monitoring their progress. You will lead the team and collaborate with a multidisciplinary unit to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is looking for an RT with good interpersonal skills, strong teamwork, leadership, communication and conflict resolution abilities. Please note, RRT‑NPS credential must be obtained within one year.

• Department: Respiratory Therapy
• Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift, 36-hours a week in 3, 12-hour shifts (7AM-7PM) with rotating weekend coverage and holiday coverage.

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

• Two years' experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
• Constant standing and walking.
• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
• Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling and running.
