Overview

This position provides respiratory therapy care for patients throughout the hospital.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential to join our patient-centered clinical team. In this role, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across various age groups and acuity levels, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Performs patient care activities to include all forms of respiratory therapy and other assigned duties in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Interprets and executes physician orders and individualizes therapy to meet patient needs.
  • Calculates medication dosages and provides patient education.
  • Maintains accurate documentation, including medication and patient care records.
  • Notifies leadership of any inappropriate patient care issues; reports and documents errors.
  • Uses protective equipment appropriately and follows infection control procedures.
  • Performs intubations and changes tracheostomy tubes as assigned.
  • Maintains patient safety and responds to alarms/call lights; participates in emergency situations and codes.
  • Performs bedside lab testing (e.g., ABGs) and associated quality control in compliance with orders and policies.
  • Ventilator management and maintenance: understands all modes, conducts checks every 4 hours/PRN, sets alarms, and documents settings accurately.
  • Educates students and health professionals about ventilator functions and collaborates with the care team on patient care issues.
  • Ensures accurate documentation and computer entry for therapy, ventilator, and oxygen therapy; maintains current credentials.
  • Supports ongoing professional growth by learning new equipment and procedures and completing mandatory education on time.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's Degree or Certificate of Completion with field of study in Respiratory Therapy; program must be CoARC or CoARTE approved.
  • Licenses/Certifications: RCP license (state-specific); Certified Respiratory Therapist (CR T); Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • License/Certification timing: within specified timelines (e.g., BLS within 30 days; ACLS/NRP/PALS within 1 year).
  • Work Experience: 1+ years in respiratory therapy.
  • Specialized knowledge and skills: English communication, professional demeanor, confidentiality, basic computer skills, and ability to work with diverse teams.

Compensation and Benefits
