Job summary

Pullman Regional Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist – Ambulatory Diagnostics to perform pulmonary function testing, educate patients, and provide clinical support in an ambulatory setting. Collaboration with providers and staff ensures safe, efficient care and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities include testing, documentation, and coordination of respiratory diagnostic services; requires NBRC‑RRT, Washington license, and active BLS.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Credentialed through the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Washington.
  • Active BLS certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with providers, colleagues, patients, and customers.
  • Demonstrates competency in respiratory diagnostic testing and patient assessment.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology and equipment.
  • Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Ability to contribute positively to interdisciplinary team environments.
  • Ability to support patient-centered care in an ambulatory setting.

  • Performs pulmonary diagnostic testing, including spirometry, bronchodilator testing, diffusion studies, lung volume testing.
  • Reviews patient information and verifies appropriateness of ordered testing.
  • Educates patients regarding testing procedures and responds to questions.
  • Monitors patients during testing and responds appropriately to clinical concerns within scope of practice.
  • Documents testing results and patient interactions according to organizational standards.
  • Maintains competency in respiratory diagnostic procedures and equipment operation.
  • Performs equipment calibration, quality control, maintenance checks, and troubleshooting according to manufacturer recommendations and departmental standards.
  • Communicates effectively with providers regarding testing results, patient concerns, and operational issues.
  • Participates in development and maintenance of respiratory diagnostic workflows, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with coordination and scheduling of respiratory diagnostic services.

Pay Range and Schedule

Pay Range: The base pay range for this position is $32.09-$46.19 Hourly however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Job Title: Respiratory Therapist—Ambulatory Diagnostics Work Schedule for this Position: Monday through Friday 8am-5pm

Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist – Ambulatory Diagnostics provides respiratory diagnostic testing, patient education, and clinical support services in the ambulatory setting. Primary responsibilities include pulmonary function testing and related respiratory diagnostic services. This position works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and patients to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. Responsibilities may expand to include additional respiratory, diagnostic, and ambulatory clinical support activities within scope of licensure, training, competency, and organizational policy. This position supports the growth and development of ambulatory specialty, diagnostic, and respiratory services while maintaining a high standard of patient care and regulatory compliance.


A Day in the Life

Performs pulmonary diagnostic testing, including spirometry, bronchodilator testing, diffusion studies, lung volume testing, and other respiratory diagnostic procedures as assigned and appropriate to competency.   • Experience in ambulatory or outpatient clinical settings.

  • ACLS certification.
