Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner to join their team. Responsibilities include providing bedside respiratory care, performing diagnostic procedures, and ensuring quality patient care in a collaborative environment. Candidates must hold active respiratory care credentials and have experience in pediatric care, with opportunities for advanced certifications. This position encompasses critical care areas and involves 12-hour shifts in dynamic environments.
This is a Pediatric Respiratory Care position. Work units include NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, and pediatric & adult acute/intermediate care wards. Respiratory Therapists at OHSU provide bedside respiratory care modalities in accordance with hospital and departmental guidelines as ordered by healthcare providers.
Provides therapeutic interventions including but not limited to: airwaymanagement, therapeutic gases and ventilator management, newbornresuscitation, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Performs diagnostic procedures including but not limited to: sampling ofarterial blood, bedside spirometry, spontaneous ventilatory parameters,point of care testing.
Therapeutic modalities and communication approached with reference toage specific needs of the patient, including Doernbecher Children'sHospital Family Centered Care Program.
Demonstrates an understanding of current and all new care modalities
and equipment.
Completes all competency testing, required in-services and activities.Takes personal responsibility for maintaining competency for equipmentand modalities within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope ofpractice.
Seeks assistance in managing workload as needed.
Recognizes the need for guidance and uses expertise of others whenappropriate.
Utilizes appropriate chain-of-command and committee process to effectchange.
Charts and charges all services provided per policy.
Work location in sometimes noisy patient care areas. 12 hour shifts. Possible exposure to blood, bodyfluids, airborn pathogens, magnetic fields, and radiation.
