Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Respiratory Care Services helper to maintain supplies, process equipment, and assist with non-invasive patient care during night shifts.

The role excludes invasive procedures or critical care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Registration with the NCRCB as an RCA required.
• Enrolled student in good standing of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains supplies, medications, and medical gas tanks within the department.
• Picks up and processes dirty equipment to maintain clean supplies.
• Administers medications via nebulizer and participates in non-invasive patient care.
• Instructs patients in Incentive Spirometry and performs CPT per guidelines.
• Charges for all services, including use of BCX system.
• Performs arterial punctures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Respiratory Care Services Job Family Allied Health Work Shift Nights (United States of America)

Summary

Maintains an adequate amount of supplies, medication, and medical gas tanks within the department. Takes care of accumulating dirty equipment and the processing of equipment. Administers medications via nebulizer, as well as, participate in other forms of intermittent non-invasive patient care. Does not participate in critical care or the care of unstable patients.

Major Job Functions

• Maintains adequate amounts of supplies needed for the department


• Picks up dirty equipment and then processes them to maintain an adequate supply of clean, ready to use equipment


• Performs testing of Cidex and\or other solutions utilized by the department


• Administers continuous oxygen and continuous bland aerosol therapy per department guidelines


• Does not participate in invasive procedures (Intubations) or critical care (mechanical ventilation)


• Instruct patients in the use and performance of Incentive Spirometry


• Performs CPT per department guidelines


• Charges for all services provided inclusive of use of BCX system


• Performs Arterial punctures


• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required


• Registration with the NCRCB as an RCA required


• Enrolled student in good standing of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required

Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guests
