Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking a Respiratory Care Assistant to provide basic respiratory care to patients under supervision in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will perform assessments, document findings, and assist with physician orders and routine procedures on site.

New graduates are welcome; valid NC RCA license and BCLS recertification are required. Per diem schedule with 4 hours per week and a variable shift supports the NGH Pulmonary unit at Nash Hospitals.

Qualifications

• High school graduate enrolled in CAHEA approved training program in respiratory care with competency evaluations and NC Respiratory Care Board registration.
• Respiratory Care Assistant licensure; current license to practice in North Carolina.
• BCLS certification; recertification every 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory assessments and documents results.
• Implements physician orders under supervision.
• Performs routine and advanced respiratory care procedures.
• Communicates with patients, families and care team.
• Sets up and maintains equipment; participates in QA/QI activities.
• Engages in self-development and continuous learning.
