Overview

This position is sign-on bonus eligible! Respiratory Care Assistants are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus paid out after 90 days!

Job Summary

Works under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner and performs various general respiratory care duties, including respiratory treatments, oxygen administration, suctioning, and arterial blood gas puncture and analysis. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide or arrange for care for neonatal to geriatric patients.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the lifespan and can assess data reflective of the patient's status.
  • Interprets information to identify patient requirements and ensures age-specific needs are met, as per department policies. Provides and assesses patient and family education.
  • Performs respiratory care treatments and oxygen administration.
  • Performs suctioning and obtains and processes ABG samples.
Physical Requirements

Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 25 pounds. Exposure to hazardous environments, including contagious patients and biohazardous materials. Requires rapid eye-hand coordination. Possible distractions and stress due to noise and disruptions. Exposure to risks from moving equipment, chemicals, or body fluids.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Enrolled in a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program with at least 1 year completed. Registered with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RCA. Completion of competency evaluations for job duties. BLS certification required. Additional certifications may be required per facility policies.
