Job Summary

Provides quality therapeutic and diagnostic treatment to patients under the direction of a physician; provides staff and family education; participates as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal continuity of care. The registered therapist must exercise considerable independent judgment in respiratory care, including care for infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, based on knowledge of growth and development.

Job Specifications
  • Education and Experience: Must have completed registry by the National Board of Respiratory Care; licensure in Tennessee by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners with Arterial Blood Gas Endorsement or Registry Eligible status with a maximum of 6 months to complete registry requirements. One to two years of clinical experience preferred. BLS required; ACLS preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Must possess clinical skills to recognize the need to modify and adapt therapeutic and diagnostic procedures according to policies and procedures.
  • Abilities: Ability to communicate and write clearly, make logical decisions in patient care situations, interact professionally with patients and staff, evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
