Job summary

Northwell Health in New York (Bay Shore area) is seeking a Respiratory Therapist responsible for evaluating patients, performing diagnostic tests, and delivering therapies for pulmonary disorders. This role includes non-critical and critical care procedures, ventilator management, and airway support as needed.

Required qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent, completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program, NYS license, NBRC registration, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited two- or four-year AMA-approved respiratory therapist program required.
• Current NYS Respiratory Therapist license required.
• Registration from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patients and perform diagnostic tests as prescribed.
• Pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas sampling with QC.
• Deliver non-critical care treatments including medical gas therapy and inhaled meds.
• Provide aerosol and bronchial hygiene therapy, airway management and maintenance.
• Perform non-invasive BIPAP, endotracheal intubation and ventilator management in CCU.
• Clean, assemble and distribute supplies and equipment; perform related duties.

Responsible for evaluating patients through diagnostic tests and performing therapeutic modalities as prescribed by Physician for treatment of pulmonary disorders.

Job Responsibility

• * Performs Non-Critical Care procedures per established respiratory therapy protocols, including:
  • Evaluation and assessment of patient.
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Arterial blood gas sampling, analysis and quality control.
• * Performs Non-Critical Care treatments including:
  • Medical gas therapy
  • Delivery of Inhaled medication
  • Aerosol therapy
  • Bronchial Hygiene therapy
  • Airway management and maintenance
• * Performs Critical Care procedures and treatments including:
  • Non-invasive BIPAP
  • Endotracheal Intubation
  • Ventilator management
• * Cleans, assembles and distributes supplies and equipment.
• Performs related duties, as required.
