Description:
Knowledge of child growth and development, especially of characteristics of students/children in the assigned age group. Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and the characteristics of academically at-risk children in the assigned age group. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology. Knowledge of learning styles and the ability to use varied teaching methods. Familiarity with current trends, research, and best practices in education. Knowledge of School Board policies and practices related to teaching. Ability to handle problems, concerns, and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to provide training for parents and staff. Skills in planning, establishing priorities, and implementing activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to assess student achievement levels, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement. Maintaining appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment. Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others. Knowledge of Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and Teacher Competencies.
