Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and the characteristics of academically at-risk children in the assigned age group. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology. Knowledge of learning styles and the ability to use varied teaching methods. Familiarity with current trends, research, and best practices in education. Knowledge of School Board policies and practices related to teaching. Ability to handle problems, concerns, and emotional distress with sensitivity and tact. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to provide training for parents and staff. Skills in planning, establishing priorities, and implementing activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to assess student achievement levels, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement. Maintaining appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment. Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others. Knowledge of Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and Teacher Competencies.
Job Summary:To provide an effective intervention program that supports at-risk students in reaching their academic potential.
Qualifications:1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
2. Master’s degree in a targeted academic area is preferred.
3. Training in teaching at-risk students is preferred.
4. Expertise in reading, mathematics, or another academic area designated by the school.
5. Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.
6. Experience teaching at-risk students is preferred.
7. Valid Florida teacher certification in the appropriate area.
8. Must meet No Child Left Behind Act regulations and requirements.
9. Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
