Resource Teacher, Elementary - 1.0, 2025-26

Position Details
  • Position: Special Education Teacher
  • Reports to: Principal
  • Contract: 190 days – New Teacher; 187 days – Returning Teacher
Responsibilities

I. General Responsibilities

The special education teacher is responsible for implementing the district curriculum to maximize student learning and supervising students within their assignment.

II. Examples of Duties include:

  • Writing and implementing long-range and daily plans aligned with district objectives.
  • Addressing individual and small group student needs.
  • Organizing classroom for effective instruction and managing supplies and records.
  • Maintaining and updating student IEPs, scheduling and conducting IEP meetings, and communicating progress.
  • Creating a conducive learning environment and promoting positive behavior.
  • Collaborating with parents, staff, and other stakeholders to support student development.
Qualifications

Valid Kansas Teaching Licensure with Special Education Certification or enrollment in a certification program. Bilingual skills are valued.
