Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking a Resource Room Teacher for Eberwhite Elementary in Michigan. The 1.0 FTE role supports students with disabilities within the elementary setting, collaborating with general education staff and SST processes.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Special Education and a valid MI teaching certificate with SPED endorsements and have experience meeting diverse learner needs. The district emphasizes inclusive practices and data-driven planning.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in special education.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in special education (EI, LD, CI).
  • Three years of teaching experience, including at least two years with students with disabilities in a special education classroom.
  • Understanding of SST process and coordination desirable.
  • Training and instructional experience with state-recommended reading and specialized programs desirable.
  • Experience consulting with colleagues on program accommodations and modifications.
  • Experience working in culturally diverse environments with ESL students desirable.
  • Knowledge of IEPs, data collection, and due process procedures desirable.
  • Proof of highly qualified status as defined through NCLB.
  • Board of Education approval as a teacher consultant or eligibility.

Salary: Teacher Salary Schedule (AAEA)

Reporting Relationship: Building Principal

Qualifications Requirements
  • Possess Masters Degree in special education for Teacher Consultant position.
  • Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in special education in one or more areas (EI, LD, and CI).
  • Possess three years satisfactory teaching experience, including at least two years teaching students with disabilities in a special education classroom.
  • Understanding of SST process and coordination desired.
  • Training and instructional experience with state recommended reading and specialized programs desired.
  • Successful background and practice "consulting" with colleagues regarding program adaptations and modifications for students desired.
  • Successful background and experience working in a culturally diverse environment with ESL students desired.
  • Knowledge of/experience with special education due process procedures, writing of individual education plans and data collection desired.
  • Must submit evidence at time of interview of highly qualified status as defined through NCLB.
  • State Board of Education approval as a teacher consultant or able to qualify.
  • Proof of COVID Vaccination Required.
