Under the direction of nursing/clinical leadership, and taking multiple factors, competing priorities and resource availability into account, distributes staffing resources in an equitable and balanced manner across the enterprise. Collaborates with a variety of multidisciplinary stakeholders at both the hospital and enterprise levels. Performs diversified clerical duties including but not limited to, tasks related to staffing, data entry in a variety of software applications and maintenance of employee/department files.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*

  1. Works to provide adequate staff of nursing personnel for all shifts (24-hour coverage) through preparation and completion of staffing sessions. Assignment/reassignment of staff to meet hospital needs within variable census conditions. Accurately and timely documentation of staffing outcomes.
  2. Assist Nursing Leadership to secure staff by skill to fill vacant/open shifts to meet minimum staffing requirements, adjusting needs to meet variability in census or changes in pre-scheduled personnel.
  3. Communicates effectively with Nursing Leadership, Administrative Supervisor, or Charge Nurse when determining unit staffing needs on a daily basis. Assigns personnel to appropriate unit and makes adjustments for special requests or unusual circumstances. Able to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas.
  4. Maintains department data and confidential files including, but not limited to, employee schedules/files, staff rosters, call off recordings/log, timecard information and staffing data.
  5. Serves as liaison between the Central Staffing office and Nursing Leadership/Administrative Supervisors in relation to reassignment of shared staff between ProMedica Acute Care facilities.
  6. Maintains an atmosphere that supports and encourages high performance, teamwork, and continual improvement in the Central Staffing office. Continually expands knowledge and expertise regarding electronic Staffing and Scheduling application.
  7. Schedules and trains new employees working in Central Staffing office.
  8. Performs other job duties as assigned.

The hours for this position are: 3pm - 9pm

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Skills: Demonstrate oral and written communication, problem identification, and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently with little to no supervision and error. Basic computer skills, data entry/retrieval and applicable software knowledge such as Windows, Microsoft Office, and scheduling platforms. Willingness to learn new software applications and updates. Use of copy/fax machine. Able to compile statistics and use basic math. Ability to understand the variability of work in planning and problem solving.
