Job Opportunity in Child Welfare - Oklahoma

This position is located in Tulsa or Claremore, Oklahoma.

Working in Child Welfare for Oklahoma's largest state agency offers the opportunity to positively impact the safety and well-being of children and families for generations. If you are passionate about social work and community service, OKDHS welcomes you to join our team and create pathways to hope for all Oklahomans.

Training and Compensation

Extensive training will be provided to new employees, including the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program.

Annual Salary

Applicants with a Master's Degree in Social Work will receive an additional 5% salary incentive.

On-call positions include an additional bonus of $100 to $150 biweekly, depending on responsibilities.

Travel is extensive. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, maintain required car insurance, and will have access to state vehicles for work duties.

About Adoption Services

Our adoption services aim to eliminate barriers and find permanent families for children awaiting adoption.

Minimum Qualifications

Child Welfare Specialist, Level I
  • Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university;
    OR 3 years of experience related to child welfare;
    OR a combination of education and experience.
Child Welfare Specialist, Level II
  • Bachelor's degree (any field);
    OR one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
Child Welfare Specialist, Level III
  • Master's degree;
    OR Bachelor's degree plus one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist;
    OR two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
Job Duties
  • Actively seeking Kinnections (ASK), a regional unit that connects families to ensure children stay linked to important people in their lives.
  • Developing methods to identify, recruit, and retain kinship families for children at risk of entering the welfare system.
  • Conducting interviews with families, community members, and online sources to identify additional family connections.
