Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. in Springdale is seeking an entry-level Resin Operator Trainee in the Coatings R&D Development Center.

You will gain hands-on experience with resin reactors, equipment, and hazardous/non-hazardous chemicals while training in safety protocols, operating procedures, and forklift use. This bi-weekly rotating shift position trains you under the guidance of experienced operators, with opportunities to progress to a qualified resin operator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass the Resin Operator Test Battery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., moving 55-gallon drums and 50-80 lb bags).
• Must wear personal protective equipment, including respirators and suits.

Responsibilities

• Assist trainers in producing resin batches under guidance.
• Follow batch instructions including reading resin logs and preparing equipment.
• Charge raw materials to vessels, initiating reactions, and monitoring temperature/pressure.
• Perform in-process testing and record observations.
• Run batches with increasing independence as experience grows.
• Independently perform clean-up tasks of reactor vessels, lines, pumps and surrounding areas.
• Prepare shift relief documentation and handle toxic raw materials under guidance.
• Learn functionality of different reactor systems and equipment.
• Coordinate production activities and scheduling with team leaders, engineers, chemists and QA staff.
