Job summary

VisionQuest (VQ) is seeking a Cook to deliver nutritious, kid-friendly meals for children in our care. The role requires culinary expertise, adherence to food safety standards, and the ability to accommodate dietary restrictions while maintaining a positive dining environment.

You will collaborate with residential staff to plan menus, prepare meals on a Wednesday–Saturday schedule, and help ensure timely service within budgetary constraints.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• Experience as a cook in residential or institutional setting preferred.
• Current Food Managers/Handlers certificate or ability to obtain after hire.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals for children.
• Adhere to menus and modify for dietary restrictions and age groups.
• Collaborate with residential staff to align meal schedules and dietary needs.
• Provide input on menu planning and meal quality based on feedback.
• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards; monitor temperatures.
• Manage kitchen inventory and assist with budgeting for meals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
