Job description

The Electricians are hiring a Residential Wireman to join our residential service division. This role is for an experienced electrician who can handle service-based residential electrical work independently, communicate well with homeowners, and lead an apprentice in the field.

The right candidate should be comfortable with panel swaps, troubleshooting, lighting installations, device replacements, dedicated circuits, small remodel service work, EV charger rough‑ins/installations, and general residential electrical repairs. This is not a production‑only role. We need someone who can diagnose issues, explain options clearly, complete clean work, and keep jobs moving without constant supervision.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform residential service calls, repairs, upgrades, and installations.
  • Complete panel swaps, subpanel installs, breaker replacements, service upgrades, and related work as allowed by license and local code.
  • Install and replace lighting, ceiling fans, switches, outlets, dimmers, GFCIs, AFCIs, smoke detectors, and other residential electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in occupied homes, including power loss, nuisance tripping, faulty circuits, lighting problems, and unsafe wiring conditions.
  • Run new circuits for appliances, equipment, remodels, garages, basements, outdoor spaces, EV chargers, and similar residential needs.
  • Lead, train, and supervise an apprentice on job sites.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, neatly, and in compliance with current electrical code and company standards.
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners regarding findings, work performed, and any recommended repairs or upgrades.
  • Maintain organized materials, tools, vehicle stock, and job documentation.
  • Coordinate with the service manager on job progress, material needs, scheduling issues, and change orders.
  • Respect customers’ homes by keeping work areas clean and minimizing disruption.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and use proper PPE.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Residential Wireman license or equivalent electrical license required by state/local jurisdiction.
  • Residential electrical service experience.
  • Ability to complete common service tasks with limited supervision.
  • Experience with panel swaps, lighting installations, troubleshooting, and circuit additions.
  • Ability to read basic electrical drawings, panel schedules, labels, and equipment specifications.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and local code requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean/reliable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background check and/or drug screening, if applicable.
  • Must have basic hand tools required for residential electrical service work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading or training apprentices.
  • Experience with service upgrades, generator interlocks, EV chargers, smart home devices, recessed lighting, and remodel wiring.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with service software, mobile dispatching, or digital job documentation.
  • OSHA 10 or similar safety training.
Skills and Traits Needed
  • Dependable, punctual, and organized.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability.
  • Clean workmanship.
  • Good communication with customers and coworkers.
  • Able to make sound field decisions without cutting corners.
  • Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, basements, garages, and occupied homes.
  • Able to manage an apprentice productively instead of just bringing them along.
  • Takes pride in code‑compliant, professional work.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from heights.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, crawlspaces, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, pull wire, and use power tools throughout the workday.
Schedule
  • Full‑time position.
  • Overtime or occasional on‑call work may be required depending on service demand.
Compensation
  • Pay range: $24-$34, depending on experience, license level, and ability.
  • Benefits may include:
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
  • Uniforms
  • Retirement plan
  • Training and advancement opportunities
