Job summary

The Salvation Army in Georgetown, Delaware is seeking a Residential Direct Support Professional to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This full-time role offers daytime/evening shifts and every other weekend, with a starting pay of $18.50 per hour.

You will work closely with the supervisor to assess needs, implement individualized programming, and help residents engage with the community while promoting dignity, privacy, and independence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Experience with supports to people with developmental disabilities, including dual diagnoses and injuries.
• Positive attitude toward the abilities of individuals with disabilities.
• Good communication skills and ability to engage people in activities.
• Must complete clearance required by the Joseph R. Biden II and the Child Protection Act.
• Understanding and appreciation for The Salvation Army’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in becoming more independent and engaged in community activities.
• Act as a role model and support supervisor in assessing and meeting residents' needs through direct programming.
• Maintain a healthy emotional and physical environment reflecting residents’ needs and individuality.
• Support the program’s image in the community and among staff.
• Help residents achieve their greatest potential through individualized programming while respecting privacy and free time.
