Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory in Georgetown, Delaware seeks a Residential Direct Support Professional to provide supportive services to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. Immediate start available.

This full-time position involves day/evening shifts and every other weekend, offering $18.50 per hour. You will assist residents in developing independence, engaging in community activities, and maintaining a respectful, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of a High School Diploma/GED.
• A valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Experience should include supports to people with a range of Developmental Disabilities.
• Position requires a positive attitude toward the abilities of individuals with disabilities.
• Good communication skills and the desire to engage people in activities that meet their interests and broaden their horizons.
• You must be able to successfully complete clearance required by the Joseph R. Biden II and the Child Protection Act.
• Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in becoming more independent and engaged in activities in the local community.
• Act as a role model and assist in ensuring needs are met through direct programming.
• Maintain a healthy emotional and physical environment for individuals served and reflect their needs and individuality.
• Contribute to the program's image in the community and collaborate with staff.
• Help the person served achieve their greatest potential through individualized programming while respecting privacy and free time.
