Job summary

HART United in Wallingford, CT is seeking a Direct Support Counselor to operate a residential facility, supporting individuals in building living skills, supervising housekeeping, meals, and activities while providing counseling and life-skills guidance. Position is part-time non-exempt with hourly pay.

Responsibilities include safety, supervising daily tasks, medical assistance per regulations, documenting daily logs, and coordinating with the Residential Supervisor to meet personal IP goals.

Qualifications

• Maintain medication administration certification as required by State of Connecticut DDS.
• Must have a valid CT driver’s license and be able to drive the company vehicles, including wheelchair vans.
• Attend all mandatory in-services provided by HART before their expiration date.
• Maintain necessary certifications as per DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure physical safety of all individuals.
• Be aware of individuals' whereabouts when at the home and away from the house.
• Recognize and report any suspected incidents of abuse or neglect.
• Enforce house rules with individuals.
• Interact with and provide in-house leisure activities during down-time.
• Provide input for IP goals and participate in IP meetings as needed.
• Implement programs and document as prescribed; review 6-month and annual reports.
