Overview
The Residential Supervisor - Mid-Day Shift (3 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.) demands vigilance while handling diverse tasks. It plays a vital role in promoting self sufficiency among participants by providing participant services tailored to their identified needs and aligned with the residential program's objectives. In addition to conducting client screenings, this role involves overseeing case planning, supervision, and coordinating activities for residents and visitors, ensuring the maintenance of a safe, clean, and nurturing living environment. With a human-centered and trauma-informed approach, the position actively engages with participants, demonstrating cultural responsiveness and awareness of the diverse needs of various cultures, races, ethnicities, and populations. The Residential Supervisor is responsible for applying an intersectional, anti-racist, and equity lens to our work that lifts up and centers Black, Indigenous, People of Color, non-binary, and trans, and LGBTQ+ communities and youth.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
In partnership with The San Diego LGBT Community Center and San Diego Youth Services, the Safe STAY Wellness Center is a comprehensive emergency housing program designed to meet the unique needs of young people (18-24) experiencing homelessness or housing instability. We provide a holistic and LGBTQ-affirming approach that focuses on the stability and well-being of our participants.
SCHEDULE:
- Up to 3x/week Monday - Sunday 3 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
- Flexibility to cover overnight shift 11p.m. - 7:30 a.m. preferred

Responsibilities
- Work shifts with sustained alertness, ensuring continuous attentiveness during the entire duration
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including medical situations or behavioral crises, and initiate appropriate protocols
- Provide direct supervision to residents during shifts, ensuring compliance with program rules and addressing any behavioral issues; Employ effective crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate tense situations and ensure the well-being of residents and staff
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of activities, incidents, and any significant interactions with residents; Report incidents to the appropriate personnel
- Communicate relevant information to staff, including updates on resident behavior, incidents, and any emerging issues that may impact the program
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for residents, encouraging a sense of community and mutual respect
- Ensure the maintenance of a safe living environment by monitoring, addressing and reporting any safety concerns promptly
- Coordinate and facilitate activities for residents, promoting a sense of community and contributing to their overall well-being
- Ensure that YMCA policies & procedures and applicable laws are always adhered to
- Participate in and attend all required staff meetings, trainings, YMCA staff development events, and appropriate agency-wide committees
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have access to reliable transportation to travel regularly throughout San Diego County
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social science, psychology or a related field and one (1) year work experience working with young adults, children or families in a social service setting - OR minimum four (4) years of relevant work experience required
- One (1) year of experience with providing social work practices to individuals and families required
- Previous experience working in a residential setting, particularly in roles involving direct care and supervision of individuals preferred
- Understanding and application of trauma-informed care principles, recognizing the potential impact of trauma on residents and incorporating trauma-sensitive approaches into daily interactions
- Basic computer knowledge and skills

- Must be able to work evening and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
PRE-HIRE CONTINGENCIES:
- Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
- CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute
- Position may require additional clearances in order to comply with all program, licensing, state law, and funding requirements:
- Physical exam obtained prior to first day
- Negative TB test results obtained within the past one year, prior to first day, and annually thereafter, as required
- Pass pre-employment drug testing prior to first day
- Exclusion and Debarment checks prior to first day and monthly thereafter
- Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid CA Driver’s License, a good driving record and a current CDL H6 print-out (must be dated within 30 days of application) and pass vehicle proficiency exam

Pay Range
USD $22.64 - USD $22.75 /Hr.
