Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota seeks a Residential Supervisor at Arise Youth Center to lead residential staff and ensure safety and quality client care. This full-time daytime and on-call role focuses on supervising care teams, guiding crisis interventions, and promoting positive youth outcomes.

Eligibility includes a behavioral or social science degree (or equivalent credits and experience), 21+ years of age, Safe Crisis Management training, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field is preferred, or 60 credits with relevant experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Successful completion of Safe Crisis Management training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, evaluation, and support to residential staff.
• Ensure physical intervention for residents and staff protection if necessary.
• Transport residents as needed and maintain health and safety standards.
• Attend in-service trainings, staff meetings, and supervisor meetings.
• Cover on-call duties as assigned.

Full-time, Day and Evening shift, on-call shifts (as needed).

A Day in the life of a Residential Supervisor:

• Provide direction, evaluation, and support to residential staff.
• Ensure physical intervention for residents and staff protection if necessary.

• Attend in‑service trainings, staff meetings, and supervisor meetings.
• Cover on‑call duties as assigned.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field preferred; or two years of postsecondary education (minimum of 60 semester credits) and one year of experience working with children; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• This position requires successful completion of Safe Crisis Management training.
• Willingness to submit to record checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, distributing drugs or sex crimes.
• Requires valid auto‑insurance, a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.
