Job summary

Fort Valley State University seeks a Camp Coordinator to supervise Upward Bound students during a six-week summer program on campus. The coordinator will live with students, enforce rules, accompany trips, and attend all meetings.

Applicants should demonstrate strong commitment to underrepresented youth, excellent written and oral communication, and the maturity to manage discipline. The role requires flexibility to work Sunday through Friday across the summer.

Qualifications

  • College graduate or student in good standing with junior/senior status.
  • Official transcript required.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
  • Valid drivers license and strong communication skills.
  • Experience with Upward Bound or pre-college programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • On-call 24 hours during the summer program.
  • Plan and conduct events in residence halls.
  • Live on campus with students for two weeks.
  • Supervise students during evening activities.
  • Ensure hall security and participant safety.
  • Maintain communication with program staff and participants.
  • Monitor participants during activities and trips.
  • Ensure participants are in rooms after lights out.
  • Attend all program functions and weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain discipline and harmonious relations.
  • Assist with programming to organize classes and activities.
  • Transport students to/from pickup/drop-off locations and activities.
  • Deliver food and supplies to students.
  • Report issues to staff as needed.
  • Attend all virtual and in-person meetings.
