Job summary

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers Inc. is seeking a counselor to provide intake, assessment, and therapeutic services for individuals with SUD or co-occurring disorders and their families.

The role involves developing individualized treatment plans, offering counseling sessions (individual, family, or group), and ensuring timely documentation while adhering to ethical standards. Responsibilities include ensuring client care across programs, collaborating with staff, and maintaining licensure;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field is required; Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work is preferred.
• Licensure such as CDCA, LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, or LICDC is required for employment.
• Minimum 2 years of SUD counseling experience including assessment, treatment planning, and group or family counseling.
• Strong understanding of SUD, family illness models, community resources, and treatment modalities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
• Two years in a personal recovery program may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages intake and admission procedures tailored to clients across programs.
• Collaborates with clients to assess issues, develop treatment plans, and provide individual, family, or group counseling.
• Completes client charting and documentation timely and accurately per agency standards.
• Maintain direct client interaction with optimal use of therapeutic time and comply with billing practices.
• Participate in peer reviews, staff meetings, and ongoing trainings to sustain clinical excellence.
• Builds rapport with clients, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
• Upholds professional ethics and client confidentiality, including client rights and grievance procedures.
• Works in a team-based approach to client care and maintains licensure/certification.
• May transport residential clients as assigned by supervisor.
