Earthlight Technologies in Ellington, CT is seeking a reliable Residential Solar Installer with at least one year of experience to join our family-owned team. You will install solar PV systems on residential rooftops and ground mounts, following code, safety, and quality standards while working closely with a 24-person crew.

The ideal candidate has roofing or framing skills, a valid driver’s license, and a dedication to safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Must have solar installation experience and/or roofing/framing skills.
• Experience with ladder safety.
• Mechanically inclined with hands-on problem solving.
• Familiar with carpentry methods, materials, and tools.
• Understanding of building and safety code requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install solar PV systems on residential rooftops and ground-mounts.
• Collaborate within a 24-person crew to complete installations safely and on schedule.
• Install systems from 5 kW to 25 kW, including layout, racking, panel placement, wiring, and commissioning.
• Work on various roof types and manage flashing/sealing for leaks.
• Read blueprints, site plans, and electrical schematics to plan installations.
• Ensure all penetrations and attachments are flashed and sealed.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized job site.
• Communicate effectively with team members and project managers.

Job description

Role: Residential Solar Installer

Position Overview: We are looking for talented, hardworking, experienced solar installers. Ideal candidates will be reliable with at least one year of experience and outstanding customer service and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities included but are not limited to:

• Install solar PV systems on residential rooftops as well as groundmount systems, ensuring quality, code compliance, and system performance.
• Work as part of a 24 person crew, collaborating effectively to complete installations safely and on schedule.
• Install systems ranging from 5 kW to 25 kW, including layout, racking installation, panel placement, wiring, and system commissioning.
• Work on a variety of roof types, including asphalt shingle, standing seam, and corrugated metal, rubber membrane (EPDM/TPO), and other specialty roofs, using appropriate flashing and sealing methods for each.
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and electrical schematics to plan and execute efficient, accurate installations.
• Ensure all roof penetrations and attachments are properly flashed and sealed to prevent leaks and maintain roof integrity.
• Follow safety protocols rigorously, including fall protection, electrical safety, and heat stress prevention, maintaining a clean and organized job site at all times.
• Communicate effectively with team members, and project managers.

• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in carpentry
• Understanding of applicable building and safety code requirements
• Valid driver license with a clean driving record

Salary: Range from $18.00 - $32.00 per hour

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
