Job summary

Sunrise Community of Virginia, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support professional to provide support, assistance and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live valued lives in the community.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, basic computer skills, and prior experience in human services. Salary is $58,000 annually, with pre-employment screenings and a Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment Background and Drug Screenings
• Must possess a valid Driver's License with endorsements and have at least 3 years driving experience
• Must possess basic computer skills
• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of experience in human services preferred
• At least one year of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Identify and report any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights
• Ensure health, safety and well-being of individuals at all times
• Supervise and maintain a positive team of trained employees who support interactions of individuals with IDD
• Provide training and constructive feedback to employees
• Ensure implementation of therapy, training and behavior programs and data collection as per plans and agencies
• Maintain a positive, innovative person-directed environment in the home
• Monitor ongoing compliance with directives, standards, policies and procedures
• Ensure homes, outdoor areas and vehicles are well maintained and organized
• Communicate effectively in English with staff regarding medical care, supports and services
