Job summary

Absolute Air Services in Portland, CT is seeking an experienced E-1 Licensed Master Electrician to stay hands-on in the field while taking on more responsibility over time. This is a working electrician role, running residential service calls, completing repairs and upgrades, and providing customers with professional recommendations.

Qualifications

• Active Connecticut E-1 Electrical Contractor license required.
• Strong residential electrical service, repair, and installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and Connecticut electrical requirements.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to independently manage complex residential service calls.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical findings clearly to homeowners.
• Willingness to mentor and support less-experienced electricians.
• Interest in growing into additional leadership responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

• Run residential electrical service and repair calls.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential electrical systems.
• Install and replace panels, breakers, circuits, outlets, switches, lighting, and related components.
• Complete service upgrades, wiring repairs, dedicated circuits, and improvements.
• Install EV chargers, generators, surge protection, detectors, and other residential equipment.
• Perform electrical safety inspections and identify code, performance, and safety concerns.
• Explain findings and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options to homeowners.
• Complete accurate estimates, service notes, photos, and required documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional vehicle and work environment.
• Serve as a technical resource for other electricians when complex issues arise.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and less-experienced electricians.
• Help reinforce quality, safety, and code-compliance standards across the team.
• Support field leadership with technical questions, quality checks, and troubleshooting as needed.

Master Electrician

Absolute Air Services is growing its residential electrical business, and we’re looking for an experienced E-1 Licensed Master Electrician who wants to stay hands-on in the field while taking on more responsibility over time.

This is first and foremost a working electrician role. You’ll run residential service calls, complete repairs and upgrades, solve complex electrical issues, and provide customers with professional recommendations.

Because of your experience and E-1 license, you’ll also serve as a technical resource for the team, help support less-experienced electricians, and have the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibility as the electrical department continues to grow.

What You’ll Do

• Run residential electrical service and repair calls.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential electrical systems.

• Complete service upgrades, wiring repairs, dedicated circuits, and electrical system improvements.
• Install EV chargers, generators, surge protection, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and other residential electrical equipment.
• Perform electrical safety inspections and identify code, performance, and safety concerns.
• Explain findings and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options to homeowners.
• Complete accurate estimates, service notes, photos, and required documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle and work environment.
• Serve as a technical resource for other electricians when complex issues arise.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and less-experienced electricians.
• Help reinforce quality, safety, and code-compliance standards across the electrical team.
• Support field leadership with technical questions, quality checks, and troubleshooting as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Active Connecticut E-1 Electrical Contractor license required
• Strong residential electrical service, repair, and installation experience
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and Connecticut electrical requirements
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to independently manage complex residential service calls
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to explain technical findings clearly to homeowners
• Willingness to mentor and support less-experienced electricians
• Previous lead, foreman, or mentoring experience is a plus, but not required
• Interest in growing into additional leadership responsibility over time
• Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, CRM systems, and field service software
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
