Job summary

County Waste Complex LLC in Milledgeville, GA seeks a Driver Helper to ride along on residential routes, assist the Driver, and ensure prompt, courteous service while safely loading refuse and bags.

The Helper will direct the Driver from the ground, keep the cab and truck clean, and maintain on-route safety and professionalism with customers every day.

This full-time role offers hands-on training, uniforms and PPE, and opportunities to contribute to efficient waste collection operations.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing residential customers on a designated route.
• Climb on and off vehicle to load refuse, bags and carts; lift and carry trash bags to the truck.
• Operate packing mechanisms and levers to activate the lifting/loading system.
• Direct the Driver from the ground to help with safe operation of the vehicle.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; wash hopper and truck.
• Interact courteously with customers and coworkers to ensure timely service.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable items and maintain on-route safety.
• Address spills and keep area around spills safe and clean per safety policy.
• Adhere to all safety policies; perform other duties as assigned.

Description

The Helper rides on the vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers who reside on a designated residential route. The Helper is responsible for safely removing waste from carts, as well as carrying bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal. The position assists the Driver in maneuvering his or her vehicle by directing the Driver from the ground. In addition, the Helper helps to maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, as well as the residential route and work area.

Principal Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing residential customers on a designated route.
• Climb on and off vehicle to load refuse, waste and poly carts; lift and carry trash bags and containers to the truck for disposal.
• Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
• Assist Driver is safely operating the vehicle by directing the Driver from the ground.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck.
• Courteously interact with all customers and colleagues on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements

KRA #1: Create and foster a safe environment for both yourself, your team, and your equipment.

• Constant focus on safe practices both on and off the truck as well as in cab.
• Always aid the driver with awareness. This includes safe backing practices as well as in cab awareness when traveling.

KRA #2: Maintain cleanliness at all times.

• Keep the cab and exterior of the truck clean including the rear steps and fixed blade area.
• Watch for and clean any debris that may fall loosely from the truck or be ejected from the hopper while packing.

KRA #3: Maintain professionalism and presentability.

• Always be in uniform or dressed appropriately for the job along with proper PPE.
• Always maintain professionalism when interacting with customers and the public.

Salary Description

15.00 per hour based on experience
