Cobb County Government is seeking qualified individuals for Property Appraiser roles at I–IV levels or an Appraisal Facilitator to appraisal real property values for tax assessment. Positions involve data collection, field inspections, and assisting with appeals, with certification and licensing requirements varying by level.

Responsibilities include preparing appeal data, providing information to property owners and the public, and supporting more complex appraisals with technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Appraiser I requires HS Diploma or GED, with evaluation of prior appraisal experience.
• Appraiser II requires HS Diploma/GED; Bachelor's preferred; 2+ years in appraisal.
• Appraiser III requires HS Diploma/GED; Bachelor's preferred; 3+ years in valuation.
• Appraiser IV requires HS Diploma/GED; Bachelor's preferred; 5+ years in valuation; exp. substituted by college years.
• Appraisal Facilitator requires Bachelor's in accounting/finance/public admin or related field plus 3 years in appraisal.

Responsabilités

• Perform basic level appraisals of real, residential, and exempt properties.
• Create or verify data for existing and new construction; establish fair market values.
• Collect property data, measure or photograph properties, and audit data.
• Conduct field inspections to verify data and assess new constructions or renovations.
• Prepare data for appeal hearings and assist owners, tax representatives, and the public with valuation questions.
• Assist with responding to formal appeals and testify as needed to valuation processes.
• Support complex/appraisal tasks and provide technical guidance to coworkers.

Appraiser certification (State Revenue Department)
