Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas seeks a Residential Coordinator in Maryland to supervise Residential Counselors and coordinate with the Rehabilitation Director to ensure clinical supervision and client participation in community activities.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field (or RN license) with supervisory experience, plus a minimum of three years in mental health or social services and a valid driver’s license for transporting clients.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Mental Health, or related area, from an accredited college or university; or license as a Registered Nurse and two years of experience working with persons with chronic mental illness, including some supervisory experience, is preferred.
• At a minimum, the successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and a minimum of three years experience working in a mental health and/or social service field. Post high school education and experience totaling 2 years may be substituted. At least one year of supervisory experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluation of staff, as appropriate.
• Ensure that client home(s) are maintained in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
• Participate in the assessment of client service needs and in the development, implementation and monitoring of the IRP as appropriate.
• Ensure appropriate staff coverage and that emergency and on-call coverage is available to clients.
• Perform the duties of Residential Counselor as necessary.
• Provide crisis intervention services as necessary.
• Monitor record keeping and liaise between the community and the program.
• Attend and participate in monthly meetings and provide training to staff, volunteers and interns.
• Oversee preparation of billing documentation and ensure licensed homes meet standards.
