Job summary

Newport Healthcare in Minnesota is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Residential Program for Adolescents. The role focuses on assessing daily functioning, monitoring symptoms, and supporting care in a therapeutic residential setting.

Responsibilities include admissions assessments, coordinating medical appointments, medication administration review, and collaboration with the team to maintain a safe, supportive environment. On-call duties and crisis intervention may be involved.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of nursing practices through an accredited program.
• Current RN licensure with Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
• Must have critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to communicate and make safe judgments in stressful situations.
• Basic computer skills including Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments on resident admission and assist with discharge planning.
• Track and communicate medical information verbally and in writing.
• Coordinate and schedule medical appointments for residents.
• Oversee medication-related tasks and review MARs.
• Collaborate with the residential team to maintain a therapeutic environment.
• Build therapeutic rapport and provide basic counseling support.
• Assist residents in daily living skills and provide crisis intervention.
• Participate in treatment planning and observe client progress.
• Provide leadership during on-call rotations and advise other on-call staff as needed.
• Demonstrate professional insight and seek supervision as needed.
