Job description

Purpose

To provide support, assistance, and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to enable them to live valued lives in the community by creating a positive home environment.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete required pre‑employment background and drug screenings.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with all necessary endorsements and have a minimum of three years of driving experience.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Must possess a high‑school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience working in the human services field preferred.
• At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Essential Functions

• Identify and report any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of the individuals are protected at all times.
• Supervise and maintain a positive team of well‑trained employees who provide support, direction, and oversight of interactions with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Provide training and constructive feedback to employees through positive interactions, role modeling, and mentoring.
• Ensure implementation of therapy, training, and behavior programs and required data collection for individuals’ plans and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure the home offers choice and creative activities within a positive, innovative, person‑directed environment.
• Monitor for ongoing compliance with agency directives, licensing standards, and policies and procedures.
• Ensure all homes, outside areas, and vehicles are well maintained and organized.
• Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal) is required for direct care of adults and children receiving services; employees must communicate effectively in English, including medical terminology.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Direct support staff are mandated reporters and must report any instances of abuse, neglect, or exploitation that they are involved in or witness.
