Job summary

Bridgewell in Beverly, MA, seeks a Residential Manager to oversee a residential home for people served, ensuring quality of care, staff hiring, training, and supervision, and budget monitoring.

You will coordinate clinical and medical needs with nursing staff, support families and guardians, manage on-call rotations, and ensure HIPAA compliance and safe operations. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • 2+ years direct care experience with supervisory exposure.
  • Experience in coordinating staffing and budgets in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program and accreditation standards for quality of care.
  • Staff scheduling, hiring, and coordination of per-diem/agency relief staff.
  • Conduct monthly supervisions and team meetings; provide coaching and recognition.
  • Deliver timely performance evaluations and address concerns with management and HR.
  • Maintain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, PPS, PABC) and training.
  • Oversee administrative duties across finance, HR, payroll, quality, and EHR systems.
  • Provide on-call coverage as per rotating schedule and manage shifts.
  • Collaborate with clinical/nursing teams to meet behavioral and medical needs.
  • Engage with guardians/families and maintain positive relationships.
  • Manage program budget, overtime, supplies, and monthly reviews.
  • Assist people served with financial assistance applications as needed.
  • Cover direct care in staff shortages and support program meetings/outings.
  • Oversee data entry and documentation; ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain vehicle registrations and coordinate with Transportation.

Summary

The Residential Manager ensures the quality of care and successful daily operations of a residential home for people served. This includes ensuring maintaining quality standards, coordinating the hiring, training and supervision of staff, financial management of the program budget, the monitoring of the medical and clinical needs of the people living in the home.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (40 Hours)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure program, agency and accreditation standards are met regarding the quality of care including individual behavior and treatment plans, ISP documentation, HCSIS, and other documentation as required, and in line with Bridgewell Policies & Procedures.
  • Ensure the staffing needs of the program are met based on defined ratios and attendance of persons served. This includes coordination of work schedules, hiring of new staff, and coordinating the use of per-diem and agency relief staff, as needed.
  • Positively manage staff by conducting monthly supervisions with each staff and team meetings, supporting, coaching and mentoring staff to develop skills and abilities, and providing recognition opportunities for staff.
  • Provide timely Performance Evaluations. Ensure performance standards are met, and proactively address performance concerns, working with program management and Human Resources, as appropriate.
  • Ensure self and employees maintain certifications (such as CPR/1st Aid, MAP, PPS and PABC, as required) and complete all other training requirements of Bridgewell and the program’s funding sources.
  • Ensure administrative duties are completed and followed as required in areas including finance, human resources, payroll, quality assurance, electronic health records and Medication Administration Procedures.
  • Responsible for On-Call coverage based on a rotating schedule for that program, and/or cluster, as designated. On-Call coverage includes addressing concerns and providing directions to employees, managing callouts and scheduling per diem staff, on-call reporting, as well as possible coverage of shifts if staffing cannot be coordinated for a shift.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and nursing teams to ensure the behavioral and medical needs of the people served are met. Collaborate with all service providers, ensuring communication and documentation is clear regarding the coordination and management of each person’s needs.
  • Work with guardians and family members on issues related to the care and services provided to their family members. Communicate proactively, as appropriate, working to build a positive relationship, and ensuring staff are also trained in the best practices of working with families.
  • Manage the financial responsibilities of the program, including program expenses, monitoring overtime, supply ordering and monthly budget review.
  • Ensure people served are provided support with financial needs, such as managing funds, applying for food stamps, social security, Mass Health, housing vouchers/section 8 applications and/or employment.
  • Provide direct care in the absence of program staff, as needed. This can include covering individual shifts, as well as, assisting with management needs in other programs where either a management vacancy or extended absence is occurring.
  • Coordinate or assist with program community outings and meetings with families. Ensure all information and materials required for any meeting or outing are adequately prepared, and that positive relationships are built and maintained. Ensure positive neighbor relationships are maintained, and that any concerns are raised to senior management.
  • Manage the technology needs of the program, including employee time and attendance, and data management/electronic health record systems. Ensure information is tracked as required, and system needs and issues are raised to the IT Department or Payroll Department, as appropriate.
  • Ensure vehicles assigned to the program maintain registrations as required and receive maintenance as scheduled. Coordinate and address needs with the Transportation Department. Ensure employee use of the vans follow established Bridgewell protocols. Report accidents in a timely manner to Transportation.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of Personal Health Information, records of people served, and other related information is in compliance with HIPAA, and other state or federal mandates.
  • Ensure safe operations of the program by providing safety training per the Safety Calendar, addressing program physical maintenance needs, conducting audits as required, and alerting management to any concerns.

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred OR
  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a direct care role OR
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a direct care role
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role is required.
  • Working experience in understanding the clinical needs of the people served is required.
  • A valid US driver’s license and one year of driving experience is required.

  • Ability to encourage employee engagement and ensure an inclusive work environment.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to coordinate data entry into a data management system, use Microsoft Office products proficiently, and records management systems.
  • Ability to be certified and maintain such certification, in PPS, PABC Tier 1 and 2, medication administration, First Aid/CPR and any other certification/training required based on program needs and Bridgewell policies and procedures.
  • Must have a current US driver’s license and one year of driving experience.
  • Demonstrate ability to drive a 12-passenger van and/or a wheelchair van
Physical Demands

The physical demands of staff working in residential programs assisting people with their care needs are varied and require the employee to be able to maneuver people of varying weights, and provide lifting, balance support and physical intervention in several scenarios.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to:

  • Climb stairs, physically assist people served, often weighing more than 200 pounds, with movement, bathroom routines including toileting, assisting with entry and exit of a tub or shower, getting into and out of wheelchairs or dealing with assists that include physical, behavioral and medical interventions.
  • Additional lifting or moving may be required as part of activities in the daily living of people in our services.
  • Ability to drive a 12-passenger van
